An education which led to a BSC Zoology was later followed by a return to my earlier interest in art. These two interests have complemented each other – a scientific attention to detail has influenced my painting and developed observational skills.
I paint mainly in watercolour and often use still life subjects which provide a wide scope for composition. I use an unconventional style in these paintings to draw attention to the individual objects and their relationships to each other. Pastels are also used in paintings which need less detail and benefit from the strong vibrant colours of pastels.
I have been exhibiting since 1998 and was elected a Member the Royal Society of Artists in 2021.
