Painter
After a career in intellectual property law Julie decided to switch to using the right-hand side of her brain by focusing on her art. She is particularly interested in portraiture — drawing, painting and sculpting — but also enjoys trying out other areas of art such as marbling and printing.
Her current focus is on oil painting with a preference to work from life. Faces have been an abiding fascination since childhood and Julie attempts to capture the essence of each sitter with sensitivity and character. For this reason, animals — and especially cats — are a favourite subject.
Julie is also a mentor for Koestler Arts — the prison art charity — which connects artist mentors with people who wish to continue in the arts after release from prison.
