Robbie Hornby

A career in nursing has been followed by discovering painting which I studied at Birmingham City University, Midlands Arts Centre and the RBSA. I continue to learn from inspirational tutors.

My work reflects the urban environment in which I live, the wilder open spaces of the countryside of my travels and the intimacy found in nature. Using the shapes and colours found in these places I work from sketches and my own photographs, choosing the medium which best suits the subject. I aim to achieve depth and interest, and to evoke atmosphere and movement by experimenting with surface and application.

I was elected to the Birmingham Art Circle in 2012, was a founder member of Gallery 12 and a member of Hall Green Art Society. I exhibit with these societies and also in the RBSA Friends’ Exhibitions.
